Celebrating More Than 20 Years of Wine and Food Appreciation

Winery Profile

Geyser Peak Winery

Founded in 1880, Geyser Peak Winery dates its modern incarnation to 1989, when winemaker Daryl Groom left Australia and one of the most prestigious jobs in winemaking with a single ambitious goal: to turn Geyser Peak Winery into an Alexander Valley powerhouse, held in esteem with the world’s greatest wine producers.  Alexander Valley terroir has perhaps become most famous for nurturing superior Cabernet Sauvignon.  The plush, yet structured style of Geyser Peak Winery’s Cabernets announce their Alexander Valley pedigree proudly, with bold, explosive black fruit flavors.  Here, in this diverse valley, Geyser Peak Winery — now led by Groom’s protégé, Mick Schroeter, — owns more than 225 acres of prime vineyards.  In the last ten years, Geyser Peak Winery has consistently garnered some of the most prestigious awards in winemaking. The only winery to have been awarded the London International Wine & Spirits Fair’s “Winemaker of the Year” title two years in a row, Geyser Peak was also one of only six wineries named to the Wall Street Journal’s prestigious “Honor Roll” of American wineries.

Selective Production: Focused on capturing the essence of Alexander Valley terroir, Geyser Peak wines are crafted from small lots that are fermented separately and then blended to achieve expressive wines of balance and character.  Geyser Peak wines are made in three tiers:

Varietal Selection: The Varietal Wines of Geyser Peak Winery have achieved distinction for their outstanding quality and value. Made from grapes sourced primarily in Alexander Valley, these wines showcase the quality of the valley’s unique growing conditions.

Block Collection: Geyser Peak Block Collection wines are an expression of the unique growing conditions that exist within a handful of vineyards that consistently produce outstanding wines.  Each Block Wine reflects the terroir-driven qualities of a unique site, or “block”, within the vineyard. They are made in small quantities with minimal intervention, in order to preserve the distinctiveness of each site.

Reserve Series:  An elegant expression of sumptuous varietal character — power, finesse, intensity and longevity.  Superlative grapes are transformed into the seductive and boldly expressive wines, a process that commences with a rigorous selection in the vineyard and continues through fermentation, blending, and aging.

Geyser Peak also produces some limited production wines that are only available at the winery or on-line. For more information and description of all the Geyser Peak wines visit their web site at www.geyserpeakwinery.com
